Patricia Rice, Susan King, Cara Elliott and myself, plus two special limited edition “Queen for the Day” Diamond Jubilee cards!
The question: If you were Queen for the Day, what would you do?

I would try on the Queen’s robes, and jewels!
Oh Gemma, what fun that would be!
Funnily enough one of my ancestors saved a scottish kings life in battle and king James let him be king for a day, where he granted himself land.So naturally i would give myself title and land
Wow, Hannah, that is a wonderful story! So you could take to it literally to the manner born!
After trying on the Queen’s robe and jewels, I would like to have a joust and then a big feast.
The jousting would be quite a challenge, Lori. I’d have to draft in the gorgeous Henry Cavill in full Tudors gear to help me learn!
I’d ride around in my horse-drawn carriage, waving at my adoring subjects. It must be such an ego boost!
LOL, Michelle! Imagine all those people cheering!
I would go to all my palaces and have a private tour of all the places I couldn’t go into as a member of the public. I could open a display case and take out an antique that only staff are allowed to touch. Then after trying on a few of the crown jewels, it’s back to buckingham palace for an afternoon garden party, followed be a banquet in the evening.
Also I would have The group Take That to entertain me afterward. A lot to fit in, but I would certainly give it my best!
Lorraine
Now that is a fab idea – wouldn’t it be great to see all the bits of the palaces that no one else can visit!
I would find the handsomest prince in all the land and make him mine!
Definitely, Jackie! The ultimate royal accessory. I love it!
If I were Queen for a day I’d ride my beautiful horse thruout the land and have great parties for all my subjects whereever I went.
And they would love you for it, Joye!
If I were a queen for a day I would ask Harry what he *really* got up to in that hotel room in ‘Vegas! ;o) Caroline x
LOL, Caroline! Great idea!
How about a nice ride in the ‘glass coach?’ and wave at everyone… oh and stop by the Tower and try on some of those lovely pieces!! I wonder if there’s a website that shows the lovely pieces of jewelry that Elizabeth II wears!!
Humming, ‘Diamonds are a girl’s best friend!’
Great idea Cate. I could not wait to get my hands on some of those crown jewels!!
Invite all my friends to Buckingham palace and have a right royal knees up, dressed in royal robes to boot, everyone has to come in fancy dress, famous kings and queens but I of course will dressed to emulate the fab Kate Middleton
That would be very cool, Shajmin. Love the famous kings and queens themed party!
If I were Queen For A Day, I’d have a party for all my friends at my country estate, and I’d invite the villagers to join in the revelry
I bet they would all love that, Betty!
If I were queen for a day, I would give all my servants a day off. Since no one would know who I am, I would go out to a nice restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, accompanied by my handsome husband.
The servants would all be very grateful and your friends would love you! Can’t be bad!
PS: I would also invite my friends out and to the palace.
PPS: I would also include my only surviving relatives who live out-of-state and would fly them in: my brother and his 2 children.
I would create a new bank holiday to celebrate my special day!! with a big parade and fireworks and i would stand on the balcony and wave wearing a crown of course!!!
LOL, Claire! I love that you would give everyone an extra holiday. Great idea!
I would host a ball and wear an amazing gown and the gorgeous crown and jewels.
Got to admit that those Crown Jewels would just be the most amazing thing to wear, Crystal!
Hi Nicola!
If I were queen for the day the first thing I would have to do is travel to another country to be able to be a Queen!
My first choice would be England especially since my mother looks exactly like Queen Elizabeth. I am from English ancestry but she’s such a wonderful Queen instead I’d look for a small country in need of a benevolent leader where I could help those struggling in these tough economic times.
How wonderful it would be to be able to make a positive difference is people lives! My motto would be “each each, reach one” and the best thing is that no one needs to be a Queen to do that right now were ever they live!
What a lovely idea, Jeanne! Maybe as you have English ancestry and your mother looks like the Queen, you may be related? You might find yourself with your own country after all!
If I was Queen for a day I would love to visit an isolated island. There would be food and security, of course but also peace. I can rellax and take in nature.
Na, that sounds wonderful and relaxing!
I would have my sister come to the castle and we would have a proper tea with scones her favorite not mine! Then we would have all our kids and husbands and go for a carriage rides. Then my five year old daughter would get to play dress up for hours in all of “my” finery! Jewels included of course. Then its off to the stables to feed the horses and all of the animals that we would naturally have! Dinner would be so fun no electricity only candles and live music. Oh the possibilities!!!
Wow, Jennifer, what an amazing day you have planned. I love that your daughter could be Princess for the day whilst you were Queen. I bet they do great scones at the palace!
I love that you would give everyone an extra holiday. Great idea!
