Fascinating! I’m blogging at 8am – so maybe a tad too early for my brain cells at the moment – so I’ll think about the answers when I’m more alert. But saying that, they *all* sound feasible to me! Caroline x

p.s just want to say that I downloaded “Desired” onto the Kindle the other day – and loved it! It was half past four in the morning when I finished it! Owen is to die for!

Thanks Kate! I think there are a lot of phrases in everyday use I recognise but don’t know the derivation of. It always interests me to discover these things!

HJ, I was convinced I knew the origins of several of them and then surprised when I was wrong! It is a very interesting quiz. I love word and phrase derivations!

I have encountered many of these while reading. When you think about it though a lot of these are you nowadays for completely different meanings. It is always fun to know the origins though. I also think that some of these should be completely different answers that fit them better. thank you for such a fun time! i enjoyed this so much.
