Nicola was the first UK Mills & Boon historical author to be published in the US and the first to hit the USA Today bestseller list. In 2007 she was nominated as a Mills & Boon "Queen of Romance" as their bestselling historical author!

Nicola's books have won a number of awards. She has been nominated three times for the RWA RITA Award and twice for the UK equivalent, the RNA Romance Prize.

Deceived, Nicola's first book for HQN Books, was runner up for the prestigious Elizabeth Goudge Trophy and was also nominated for the UK Libraries Pure Passion Awards and for a Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice Award.
